Evaluate the license as well as the software

When installing software users frequently accept the terms and conditions of a software license just by checking a box during the installation process without actually reading or understanding what can be a complex and legal document. Essentially its the small print on a contract between the software developer and the end user that allows the user to use the software they never actually purchase the software just a license to use it.Lets look at a couple of typical clauses The software license will terminate automatically should you destroy the software and all copies of the software including the hard disk copy and any back up copy and its documentation in your possessionThis means that if a user has had to reformat their hard drive and does not have a back up copy of the software either a copy of the original download file or a CD then they have terminated their license. Under these circumstances there is no entitlement to revisit the suppliers website and redownload the software s...

Introducing InternetInk

Ecography is pleased to be affiliated to InternetInk the UKs leading ink cartridge supplier.Unlike most other cartridge resellers InternetInk manufactures their own products as well as selling printer manufacturers original cartridges. We benchmarked a number of internet based vendors of printer cartridges searching for a range of printer cartridges including some for long discontinued printers taking note of how easy it was to find the cartridges we were searching for. The result was that we believe InternetInk to offer the best range of product from the easiest to navigate website with fast delivery and we are pleased to recommend them. gt More.

We need to print more

I was interested to see a report of an article in the journal of Chemical And Engineering News which states that Used white office paper is . . . increasingly hard to find and much more costly thanks to the growth in electronic communications. The problem being that because less paper is being used less is being recycled and so there is a shortage of paper suitable for making soft toilet tissue. While we stand by our mission of helping to make printing more environmentally friendly it seems there are limits

Its not just about the money

Remanufactured ink cartridges are sold as money savers but thats only part of the story they are also better for the environment. If you reuse your cartridges and throw them away less often then fewer cartridges to landfill or incineration both of which are bad for the environment. A powerful message and one that will become increasingly relevant even after the recessiondepressioncredit crunch that is affecting us all. Once the economy bounces back we will still have the environmental issues they havent gone away.

Dont fade to grey

I was in a hurry yesterday. I needed to print an urgent document and my black cartridge needed replacing. So I changed the colour of the text to Gray80 and it printed fine. This wasnt an attempt to reduce my ink consumption by 20 it was done in full knowledge of how an ink jet printer works. Grey is a composite colour it is printed using the 3 colours in the colour cartridge unlike black that has its own cartridge. Grey is not an inksaved black in fact using a grey uses more ink as you have to set down cyan yellow amp magenta. Not as much as you would need to set down to achieve a black you can achieve a black using the colour cartridge but it is not a pure black more of a very very dark brown. Black is a frequently used colour especially for text documents so the vast majority of colour printers are provided with a separate black cartridge some ink jet printers have more than one and equally some also have light cyan and light magenta to give a wider range of hues for photo pri...

Saving paper as well as ink

There are features within most printer drivers that are designed to help save paper these can be accessed by selecting the Properties button on the print dialog that opens when you send a document to print. They may be hidden on a different tab and therefore not immediately obvious but you should find the option to print on both sides of the paper and to print multiple pages on a single page. Printing on both sides of the paper also known as twosided or duplex printing is an option on many laser printers. While most ink jet printers only print on one side it is possible to print on both sides of the paper and many printer drivers allow this its often referred to as manual duplex because the printer will print say the oddnumbered pages first and then you will be prompted to put the pages back in the printer the other side up for the even pages to be printed. There is likely to be instructions on how to do this available either within the Printer Properties dialog or in t...
